Tasting Notes
The Capalot vineyard sits just south of the hill of La Morra, planted in the early 50s and boasting limestone soils with fine sand "Elegant and polished. There are some youthful Nebbiolo contours that need to soften but overall the 2018 impresses with its energy and layered personality. Cinnamon, blood orange, cedar, mint and rose petal flesh out nicely with a bit of coaxing." Antonio Galloni, Vinous.
More Info
Alberto Alessandria is the eight generation owner and winemaker at Crissante Alessandria, a charming family owned winery in the hamlet of Santa Maria, near La Morra. The family previously sold all of their grapes to large cellars in the local area, and began producing their own wines in the late 50s. Alberto took over the estate a few years ago and has been working quietly to improve the wines. Their 6a ha of vines are all within 80m of the winery, including sites in the prime communes of Capalot, Roggeri and Galina.
