Tasting Notes
From a tiny section of the Les Gravieres vineyard this exceptional burgundy is made with the oldest vines and only the very best barrels from these old vines used. ‘Ripe black plum fruit, with engagingly earthy notes on the nose and a pleasantly brambly edge. There is impressive richness and depth here, with firm tannins and plenty of extract - no one in search of value should overlook this serious wine.’ Decanter, Charles Curtis MW - Tasted 10 Nov 2021 - Top Côte de Beaune 2020

It's thanks to the Buisson brothers of Saint-Romain that we were introduced to Domaine Jessiaume last year. Vigneron William Waterkyn joined the domaine in 2014 fresh faced, and full of energy in his mid 20s and has overseen the conversion of the farming to organics, gaining their certification in 2019, now en route to certified biodynamics. He's a young winemaker with a natural flair, and his talent has not gone unnoticed. In February last year, he was named as Burgundy's Young Talent of the Year, and just a week later, was cited in Decanter Magazine as one of the top 10 producers to watch. One can not dumb down the losses in vintage 2020 in Burgundy. Domaine Jessiaume's total production was around 70% less than the average year, and so we are delighted to have the quantities we have.
