Tasting Notes
5 star wine from Burgundy specialist and Master of Wine, Jasper Morris. Crushed rocks, lemon barley water and lemon drops and hint of oats tossed in golden syrup and baked. There's fantastic weight here, and the finish is so mouth-watering and long. Those who look down on Vire-Clesse - think again! Will drink for decades to come.

Robin: There are only a few times in my life that I can recall having been moved and quite so excited when meeting a winemaker and tasting their wines for the first time. The wines of Guillemot-Michel age like very few white Burgundies. Jasper Morris MW reports in his reviews of Burgundy that following a tasting of 30 vintages of 'Quintaine' from Domaine Guillemot-Michel, that the 1999 and 2001 still taste very young! Morris sums up:" These are brilliant wines which work in so many different styles – refined, pure, complex, lush and botrytis-affected. This is what Viré-Clessé can offer, especially at the Clessé end and particularly Quintaine, when in the hands of master practitioners such as the Guillemot-Michel family, pioneers of biodynamics in the region. Congratulations to both generations – Pierrette and Marc, Sophie and Gautier. The domaine continues in excellent hands."
