Tasting Notes
70% Montepulciano and 30% Sangiovese grown in a vineyard at 550 m elevation with sandstone and silt. 20% whole bunch for the Sangiovese, while the Montepulciano was completely destemmed. Fermentation in stainless steel and 18 days later racked into barrel and demijohn.Firm, chalky nose that reminds me a little of Cabernet Franc and, with aeration, followed by almost explosive blackberry and blueberry fruit with lots of minerals. Bags of blackberry and blueberry lifted by long, nervy acidity and ends on a mouthful of blackberry fruit and rustic tannins. This has bags of personality but reveals its potential only the next day with bright, juicy blackberry fruit. Walter Speller
