With cellars dating to the 14th century, Bodegas Pascual was founded in 1986, at the beginning of the wine rush to Ribera del Duero. The family pride themselves on mixing modern with traditional, and so while the cellars are old, the winery is cutting edge, allowing for meticulous vinification that gets the very best out of their terroir. The estate comprises 35ha, with some vines pre-phylloxera and well over 100 years old. Situated at 850m above sea level, the Tempranillo here is spicy, complex and compelling. Rarely for Ribera, Pascual use oak sparingly, and the Buró sees only 10 months in barrel.
