Château de Durfort produces one of our all-time best-selling wines, a Corbières whose price to quality ratio amazes us with every passing vintage. Durfort is a label of one of France’s more interesting cooperatives, the Celliers des Demoiselles, which was founded by women during World War I in order to ensure that winemaking kept going in the absence of the adult male part of the population. Fruit is sourced from vines that surround the eponymous château, with 60% Syrah and 40% Grenache. Durfort has long been a Swig staff favourite, offering depth and richness that belies its price. The schist soils give an electric mineral undercurrent thatruns through to the finish.
