Domaine Maratray-Dubreuil is a brother and sister team that create wines of suppleness and class. Swig discovered them while dining at a local restaurant, and quickly became smitten. For the first few years of working with them, we struggled to get enough of an allocation. But we kept knocking on the door every January, asking how the latest vintage was looking and whether they had any for us. What inspired our persistence? Several things, but perhaps foremost is that they treat their most basic village wines with the same care and attention as their Grand Cru offerings. In a world where Burgundy reaches astronomical prices, it’s reassuring that you can still get exceptional quality at the entry level.
