Fattoria Lavacchio

“A Tuscan wine estate with a difference... Organic wine estate Lavacchio is one of the best in the region.” – Rose Murray Brown MW

Faye Lottero’s family have owned this 18th-century Rufina estate since 1978, when Faye’s father and uncle bought it from the previous owner, the Marquis Strozzi Sacrati of Mantova. Commanding a position at the top of Montefiesole, one of the great hills of Rufina, Lavacchio is a full working farm. The Lotteros grow grapes, olives, wheat and vegetables, all of which are certified organic, with a philosophy of biodiversity that runs throughout the estate. We’ve worked with them for years, and continue to marvel at Faye’s boundless energy and enthusiasm. On wine visits, she hits London like a whirlwind, charming all in her path. The wines aren’t bad either (yes, that is a deliberate understatement). They do require bottle age. Faye often makes fun of our insistence on waiting four years after harvest before taking their ‘Cedro’ into stock, but the patience is worth it.
