Pierre Caizergues

A native of the medieval city of Carcassonne in south-west France, Pierre Caizergues is an energetic and entrepreneurial young winemaker-negociant whose Mediterranean wines have impressed us in a big way.

Pierre scours the Languedoc for the best growers and vineyard sites, then assembles and ages wines to best highlight the region’s many and varied terroirs. These are handmade wines made with love and care by a winemaker with an obviously strong bond to his homeland and its wines.

We particularly rate his fizz – all brut nature wines from the AOP Limoux (including botyh crémant and blanquette styles). An entry-level Les Batards range focuses on expertly crafted blends, while his Les Affranchies range focuses on varietal expressions of local varieties, some from ‘cru’ vineyard sites. He also has a Les Ramparts range made from native Loire and Burgundy varieties which have taken root in the Languedoc.
