Tasting Notes

A vibrant, mineral, biodynamic expression of traditional red Lambrusco. Bergianti adds nothing to the winemaking process, no cultured yeasts, no sulphur, no dosage. The resulting sparkling wine is an expression of the place, climate and terroir. It is bottled adding must only. Then the indigenous , natural yeasts start the secondary fermentation and they then deposit at the bottom of the bottle which creates the secondary fermentation i.e. bubbles. The main variety used in the blend is Lambrusco Salamino di S.Croce with the addition of Lambrusco Sorbara and Pignoletto in varying percentages depending on the year.

Based on the outskirts of Modena, this biodynamic Lambrusco producer is practicing the traditional Lambrusco production methods of old and making beautiful examples of this much maligned style.
