Tasting Notes
An outstanding Cabernet for this price. We've tasted many at £25 to £35 that do come close. A perfect mix of all the elements of beautiful Cabernet: blackcurrants, slight herbaceous notes, pencil, cedar, tobacco, and it's now getting velvety, but with just the right amount of grip on the finish that makes it good with food. Lots of class and quality winemaking from Tom Carson, one of Australia's most awarded winemakers. Just 13% alc. Will keep for a few more years.
More Info
Distant Noises is Tom's (Yabby Lake Winemaker) own winemaking project. The fruit is sourced from Yarra, and the winemaking is as sensitive, precise, assured as befits Tom's name. The real beauty of Distant Noises though? It's the price! Tom has set himself the challenge of making premium Mornington Peninsula wine at a price that you rarely see for wines from this region. Why, in this venal old world, would he do that? Because he wants to. He's achieved pretty much everything else there is to achieve in wine. He's reached the summit several times over. Distant Noises is his chance to do that rare thing of making a cracking wine that is accessible to many, that gives as many people as possible the pleasure of the wines he makes.
