Tasting Notes
"Superb! Such a pleasure to enjoy a complex, very alluring and fully realised white at only 11.5 % alcohol." Graham C. A blend of Arinto and Bical, this is really unique, quite aromatic and heady on the nose, with lush blossom, bruised cooking apple, a hint of lychee, iodine and beach pebbles, leading to a creamy, toothsome palate with white flowers and macadamia nuts, with a slightly exotic edge that starts ample, but finishes brisk, salty and stoney with a hint of mineral soda. A really intriguing and a delicious white with a good dose of Atlantic refreshment. A food wine for sure, drink with a seabass crudo, fritto misto, clams or some good ash-rolled goats cheese drizzled with honey.

Focusing solely on indigenous grapes, husband and wife team William Wouters and Filipa Pato focus on making wines 'sem maquilagem' - authentic wines without make up. Daughter of the great Luis Pato, whose wines we sold many moons ago, Filipa Pato is truly one of the brightest and best of the young bunch of Portuguese winemakers in Barraida. Like her father, she believes enthusiastically in the local raw materials to make her wine: the Bical and Baga grape varieties in particular, and minimal intervention winemaking. Although this wine is produced from estate fruit and local growers, all their own vineyards are now farmed biodynamically.
