Tasting Notes
A slightly richer and fuller style to La Perriere, notes of flaky aragostine and orchard fruits. Extremely classy stuff from sensational producer Domaine Henri et Gilles Buisson. "The 2023 Saint-Romain Sous Le Château has a slightly richer bouquet [than the Sous La Velle] with more yellow fruit and brioche notes than other cuvées. Hints of custard creams and almond shavings appear with aeration. The palate is well balanced, tensile and fresh with a fine bead of acidity delivering ample salinity on the finish that lingers on the aftertaste. This is superb and seductive—and only a Village Cru! Franck et Frédérick Buisson are a dynamic duo and have rapidly become stars of Saint-Romain, the go-to appellation for quality at reasonable prices" - Neal Martin, Vinous.com

They are most definitely a feather in our cap. We don’t come across producers like this often, that aren't already being imported to the UK. In fact, it would be just a few like this in a lifetime, such is the quality of terroir they have, but more importantly what they’re doing with it. The Sous Le Chateau is one of 4 lieu-dits made by the Buisson brothers and this is the most generous in weight in texture being from a slightly warmer site than the others.
