Tasting Notes
A rare style of white wine, bringing back some of the traditions from the past. Grapes are Malvasia, Trebbiano, Maceratino and Verdicchio. This extremely unique and ancient style of winemaking makes for supremely characterful white wine, extremely gastronomic. "Coppery straw yellow. A bit like the straight Contrada Contro, but cooler and more contained. Quince and cut pear. Fantastic lively acidity that melts in the white fruit on the finish. Long lemon and pear finish with a superfine texture." 17++, Walter Speller, JancisRobinson.com
More Info
Contrada Contro is Andrea Polidoro's own project, separate from his work with the great Cupano in Brunello. From a field blend old vines in the Monte Sibbilini of Marche where his grandfather came from. This pays hommage to the ancient tradition of winemaking here.
