Tasting Notes
16 months of slow maturation in large, old Slovenian oak barrels, the blend is taken from his two family vineyards, blended specifically to achieve his impression of true Barbaresco. Garnet in glass and broad on the nose. A rich bouquet, with aromas of ripe red fruits, dried flowers, and hints of tobacco and spices. The palate displays extreme elegance, powerful yet extremely balanced and silky. Present but very smooth of tannin, achieving real delicacy and grace through a long, joyous finish. Really impressively deep and a wine of true quality, showing Barbaresco in its truest, terroir driven form.

Francesco Versio might be the most exciting young winemaker in Piedmont. Learning his craft in Bruno Giacosa's cellar, Francesco made the leap to set out on his own path in 2012. reclaiming 2 tiny vineyards in the commune of Neive, San Cristoforo and Currà, that his grandfather had rented out for years. It was time for him to create wine with his soul and vision, in truly idyllic settings overlooking the village of Barbaresco itself. His first release, the 2013 vintage, was a mere 2600 bottles, but the quality and potential was already apparent. Slowly replanting in his own two sites and acquiring top quality fruit from another site in Neive, the ball began to roll for Francesco and critics started to catch on to what he had to offer. Today he is celebrated by many and has a broader range including Dolcetta, Barbera and making a fresh, fruiter Langhe Nebbiolo too.
