Tasting Notes
Planted in 2005 on the steep mid-slopes of the Helderberg mountain in rich red clay loam soils, Steepside is bathed in sunshine from early each morning. Beautifully perfumed with bright red fruits, spiced mulberries and pretty violets matched with a sappy earthiness. The palate has an amazing and vivid lift to the fruit, and fine woven tannins, finishing with just a little wood spice and sandalwood. "Steepside is a comparatively warm, north-facing site that has produced a typically intense, concentrated wine here. Meaty, savoury and showing some pepper spice from 15% whole clusters, it marries incense and rosemary aromas with a palate of charcuterie, blackberry and tapenade. 2025-32" 95pts, Tim Atkin MW
