Tasting Notes

96 Points First Placed - Trophy winner - Bordeaux Blanc 2025. This white Graves, traditionally the best region for dry white Bordeaux, is absolutely superb. It ticks all of the boxes that I associate with quality white Graves. And I was delighted when I saw the price. A lot of higher end Graves and Medoc whites sell for £35 to £45, upwards. But this is just £22.

More Info

Up against the prestigious names Chateau d'Aiguille (owner of Canon La Gaffeliere) and Chateau Cantelys (owner of Chateau Smith-Haut-Laffite) and Chateau Leognan, this Chateau St Hilaire came out top. "A very classic Graves Blanc. On the nose: nectarine, gooseberry, lime, sage, spruce tips, along with buttered toast and beeswax. On the palate: taut and structured, with a fresh acid core and intense salted lemon flavors, balanced by juicy fruit melt. With only 12.5% alcohol, it remains light-footed without losing depth.  The winning wine from Graves: Château Saint-Hilaire shows why Bordeaux Blanc fascinates – with fresh acidity, citrus salt aromas, and juicy fruit melt. This wine surprises with considerable substance – a characterful companion to food, ideal with oysters and seafood." - Falstaff
