Tasting Notes
With grapes sourced from seven different vineyards, four on shale and schist soils, two on granite, and one on iron, we think the 2018 might be our favourite yet. Incorporating 80% whole-bunches in the ferment, The perfume is beautiful - high notes of violets and fresh plums, with a seamless palate with more dark fruits, cured meats, like walking into a fancy Italian deli and a sprinkling of pepper. Utterly beautiful and so elegant.
More Info
Founding members of the Swartland Revolution, four times winner Platter Guide Winery of the Year, and The Wine Enthusiast's Winemaker of the Year 2016, Chris and Andrea Mullineux are one serious power couple. Based just outside of Riebeek Kasteel on their farm Roundstone, their ambition is bottle wines that are a true expression of the Swartland. Its granite, schist and iron soils, its wind swept sites, old vines, hot climate and long, dry Summers. With Chris in charge of the vineyards and viticulture, and Andrea at the helm in the cellar, it has been a joy to see the incredible quality coming out of the estate year on year. Are there any more talented duos in South Africa? I don't think anyone would question it.
