Organic Wines
What does organic mean in wine terms? Well, it starts in the vineyard of course, where a great emphasis is placed on environmental protection, working with nature to create a system that sustains or even regenerates the soil, ecosystems and people. The use of all synthetic pesticides, fertilisers, fungicides and herbicides is prohibited, and organic producers instead work with ecological processes and naturally derived products to help combat pests and disease, and build resilience in the vines. In the cellar, winemaking is commonly hands off and minimal intervention. All these wines have no further additions other than minimal SO2.
Although we don't exclusively work with organic winemakers, this is certainly something we have always sought out, and we're glad to say that the great majority of producers we work with are working organically, biodynamically, or taking steps on the path towards a more sustainable model.
