The long awaited second vintage from Alberto Orte has just released and the A Portela Blanco 2024 is stonking. 100% Godello, brilliantly complex and intriguing but also so easy to enjoy.

It's a good moment to also shed a light on the sibling, the 2021 Tinto, a Mencia. Mencia is such a beautiful grape variety that has an air of Pinot or Nebbiolo (when delicately shown). The 2021 is a beautiful, pure red with a lovely smokiness and savoury notes just starting to show amongst the sweet berries and red fruit. A steal down at £22.50 and a wine great for the tail end of Summer and beyond.
