"The 2023 Chianti Classico is gorgeous. Aromatic and light on its feet, with remarkable purity, the 2023 has a lot to recommend it. Lifted aromatics, silky tannins and bright, red-toned fruit all convey nuance and understatement. This is a very pretty wine" - A Galloni, Vinous. Fine bone china style of Chianti. A nose with hints of pencil lead and delicate spice with  raspberry and cola, a touch of mahogany, tobacco leaf and leather. The palate is lovely and fine to drink. A Sangiovese with fine focus. Excellent finesse. Good length. Fine, sappy tannins. This is smart.

Located in the highest part of the Cigliano area, Cigliano di Sopra is a historic estate dating back to 1300, now in the capable hands of dynmaic friends Matteo Vaccari and Maddalena Fucile. Prior to taking the reins at Cigliano di Sopra, Matteo and Maddalena worked alongside Sashi Moorman and Rajat Parr at Evening Land, Sandhi, and Domaine de la Côte. Even Monica Larner of the Wine Advocate likes Cigliano – “The most exciting discovery I recently made in Chianti Classico is Cigliano di Sopra, located in San Casciano Val di Pesa. The winery is run by two young friends, Maddalena Fucile and Matteo Vaccari.
