Arriving in March. One of three parcels that make up the blend of our favourite Montage St-Emilion, Chateau Maison Blanche. Petra has everything. And the quality/price is off the clock. It is from a small parcel that faces North, which is consistent with some of the best Bordeaux I've tried in recent years. 2020 has such lovely fruit. It's a vintage that's deep and concentrated, that will be long lived, yet the wine is smooth with charm and easy tannins with plenty of stuffing and complexity that's already showing well that makes it fantastic for drinking now. It's a top, top wine. It's been aged barriques for 24 months and there's a nice touch of oak but very subtle. Super impressive. You will love drinking this now. It's not unlike top Californians, but better than so many of those, and if it was a Californian it would be well, well over a £100 a bottle and it's easily comparable to the quality level of Bordeaux in the £50 to £70 price range, yet this is £39 a bottle. Only 100 cases made.

Part of a new breed of Bordeaux producer that breaks the mould of the famous Bordeaux chateaux. Maison Blanche are located in Montagne-Saint-Emilion, one of the most picturesque bits of the Libournais on Bordeaux's right bank, has been biodynamic since well before it became fashionable. Demeter-certified since 2013, Maison Blanche produces some of the most deliciously classical, low-intervention, low-sulphur Bordeaux wines on the market, wines of place that are quite atypical in a region widely regarded to have become a winemaking factory beholden to chemical fertilisers and pesticides without any justifiable claim to terroir identity.
