Tasting Notes
300 meters above sea level in a natural amphitheater locally known as “the place of repose” hence the local dialect name “Posau”. One of the greatest sites in the Dolceaqua, it is a famous cru amongst the locals and makes one of the most revered single vineyard wines in the appellation. Juicy and vibrant with pronounced spice and minerality that builds through the mid-palate to an electric finish.
More Info
Rossese di Dolceacqua, the grape and appellation, is not one you see frequently in the UK, but we're thrilled to have this one to offer. Maccario Dringenberg totals just 4 hectares, but the small scale has not hampered the reputation built here. Giovanna, daughter of one of Western Liguria's pioneers, Mario, has cared for the vineyard and cellar here for over 20 years. The vineyard is latched onto insanely steep slopes and the vines are all bush trained, making for insane vineyard work. The quality of character produced here however, would make it well worth the toil. Western Liguria is just up the coast from the French boarder on the Mediterranean coast, the area is extremely overlooked in the wider wine world.
