Tasting Notes

Single vineyard Camporenzo Valpolicella Classico is special. A more serious, concentrated and structured Valpolicella Classico, though still sharing the brightness, directness and joy of the Saseti. Alongside the cherry and red berry fruit, you get pepper, graphite and a little exotic spice from the oak maturation. Camporenzo is an excellent wine for vegetarian cuisine. It can have the subtlety to pair with hearty legume soups as well as springtime dishes featuring eggs, Monte Veronese cheese, and wild herbs. Mushrooms are another domain where this Superiore shines; from fresh porcini pasta to chanterelle risotto with plenty of Parmesan and Alpine butter.

More Info

When Alessandra and Carlo Venturini first discovered Monte dall’Ora it was love at first sight. As children of farmers, they were excited and challenged by the hard work it was going to take to restore these ancient vineyards. Located in Castellroto, in the hills outside of Verona, the vineyards of Monte dall’Ora are in a natural amphitheatre facing southeast towards the city. The Venturini's are firm adherents to biodynamic principles. They encourage biodiversity by planting herbs in the summer, and sowing cereals in the winter. Alessandra and Carlo's son Savino, now well involved in the winery, showcased their range for us at a tasting in May. He's coming off the back of viticulture studies at university and time spent in Beaujolais, amongst other places. He was brilliant and there was a real DNA shared between him and their stunning wines.

FROM THE PRESS

“Intense nose of strawberry fruit and flowers with a restrained touch of black pepper. The attack is silky with a light frame and a medium body, but with good fruit concentration. Cherry candy notes with crisp acidity and a long, polished finish. Deliciously fragrant wine. Corvina, corvinone, rondinella, molinara and oseleta spontaneously fermented. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Drink now.”
94pts, James Suckling
