Yabby Lake’s single block releases are the purest expression of what a vineyard has to say. Identified as being an outstanding parcel of fruit, this is what a vineyard tastes like. The fruit was hand picked and gently pressed into 500L French oak barrels before being bottled. Nothing more, nothing less.
It’s exactly what pinot noir should be, compelling. The nose is a swirling melange of intense dark cherries, spice, nuts, muddy tomatoes and violet. It’s delicate and fragrant whilst being dense and heady, the ultimate paradox. The palate expresses itself on a ribbon of pure silk. Again, the texture is delicate but firmly structured with vital acidity, ripening fruit, liquorice and spice all providing further interest. It has power and drive all the way through to an impressive finish. This is a butterfly ready to spread its wings. Pinot noir at its finest.
