Finding an overachieving Burgundy like this was far more exciting and interesting to drink than a lazily made and considerably more expensive Chassagne or Puligny, of which there are plenty. These wonderful Burgundies are still really well priced. Whether you compare them to Burgundy or top examples from the New World, they are phenomemal value.

Every year 10 of their barrels are specially selected for, those that seem naturally a bit reductive. These are then bottled as “Absolu” with zero added suplhur. The 2017 reminds me a bit of Lalou Bize-Leroy's Auxey-Duresses D'Auvenay 2004, which is an incredible wine
