Tasting Notes
La Calcinara’s “Il Cacciatore di Sogni” Rosso Conero is 100% Montepulciano and 100% delicious! Enticing wild floral notes followed by a darker deep fruited complexity and depth. The first vintage of this wine, the 2011, was dedicated to the father of the current owners, who was a hunter (cacciatore is Italian for “hunter”). Would likely match most primi or secondi dishes except perhaps seafood that isn’t supported by a tomato based sauce, also a good plate of charcuterie.
More Info
Located in the rolling hills of Ancona in the Marche, on the eastern coast of Italy, La Calcinara is headed up by the high-spirited and talented Berluti siblings, Paolo and Eleonora. Even spending just 5 minutes with them, their energy, enthusiasm and love of wine is infectious. Their 12 ha of vines and olive groves are farmed organically, and winemaking is minimal intervention, with only very low additions of SO2 at bottling.
