‘96 points – Duncan Savage’s superb white uses grapes from two vineyards on sandstone soils in Elandskloof and Villiersdorp and is a cuvee of Sauvignon Blanc and 24% Semillon. Racy and pithy, despite completing full malolactic, it has a lovely flinty reduction, notes of brine, blackcurrant leaf and salted almonds and a core of celery, lime and pink grapefruit. He may have made his name as a Sauvignon Blanc specialist at the illustrious Cape Point Vineyards where he stacked up a very impressive roster of awards, but Duncan is a winemaker with many strings to his bow, and winemaking capacities that go far beyond Sauvignon Blanc.
