Tasting Notes
A delightful and charming Pinot Noir made from a vineyard in the Stiffkey valley in Norfolk. Jane MacQuitty from The Times noted it is “vibrant, jolly with red plum fruit” which hits the nail on the head, but it also has a lovely wildness to it. It reminds of a rustic Beaujolais. There are also strawberries and currants with a refreshing crunch and a hint of tang from the acidity. It is easy going and a perfect red for a nice lunch or as an aperitif in the evening. The vineyard lies on a seam of chalk that runs all down to the English vineyards in the south and onwards to Champagne and Burgundy. The extra bit of warmth we are now getting in summer, along with more knowledge means English Pinot Noir has never looked so good.

Walsingham Estate has 9 acres of vines in the Stiffkey Valley in Norfolk. The vineyard was planted in 2019 on a free draining south facing slope of flint and chalk. The vineyards are tended with minimum intervention with sustainability and the environment at the forefront on every decision made. The wines have started to win awards and accolades from the likes of Jane McQuitty at The Times and WineGB.
