Tasting Notes
Only £23.80 a bottle when using code - BARR824While stocks last! This is classic Bordeaux with more than the tell tale qualities of many of the Grand Cru classé. It's absolutely wonderful. But more than that, it's half the price of what many Bordeaux from the region of Margaux cost. It is, after all, in the midst of the great names, with a parcel of vines abutting Chateau Palmer, and another alongside Chateau Durfort-Viviens and Chateau Rauzan-Segla. You can absolutely drink it now, as I did a few weeks ago. That was the sample bottle. It's already showing notes of cedar, hints of cigar box / graphite pencil, with lovely dense, taut fruit. It makes you sip it and appreciate it, not glug it. It's going to unfurl over a few yeas and get better, but I love it when it's a this phase in its life, too. Tops with roast beef, lamb, steak, venison, and even roast birds - pheasant, turkey, goose and chicken.
More Info
Chateau Barraillots is one of only four small independent wineries in Margaux. Some of the vineyards were acquired by current owner Martin-Brunet's great grandfather who was a cooper at Chateau Margaux, the famous 1er Grand Cru Classé, including one from Margaux itself, a couple from neighbouring Chateau Palmer, Durfort, and Rauzan-Segla, and they tend some of the highest vines in Margaux.
