Tasting Notes

Chenin Blanc from the Swartland, brilliantly made, this delivers light-years beyond its modest price bracket. It's drinking nicely well now, but will certainly improve over the next few years, as it's jolly good the day after opening. Slivers of ripe comice pear, apple compote, lemon syllabub and fresh green herbs. Such energy to the palate with good weight, lots of crunchy green apple, exotic moringa flowers, sweet-sour citrus and a long and lingering finish. It would be delicious with salt and pepper squid, gnocchi with butternut squash, or a Keralan fish curry. 2024 vintage was more classic for the Swartland with some pretty warm days across the whole growing season, bringing out the textural side in the whites.

More Info

Founding members of the Swartland Revolution, four times winner Platter Guide Winery of the Year, and The Wine Enthusiast's Winemaker of the Year 2016, Chris and Andrea Mullineux are one serious power couple. Based just outside of Riebeek Kasteel on their farm Roundstone, their ambition is bottle wines that are a true expression of the Swartland. Its granite, schist and iron soils, its wind swept sites, old vines, hot climate and long, dry Summers. With Chris in charge of the vineyards and viticulture, and Andrea at the helm in the cellar, it has been a joy to see the incredible quality coming out of the estate year on year. Are there any more talented duos in South Africa? I don't think anyone would question it.
