Glorious Austrian Zweigelt - Organic, versatile and excellent value
Zweigelt (pronounced TSVYE-gelt) is probably not a name you've come across as a grape variety, but as Eric Asimov, the wine critic for the NY Times wrote after tasting a bunch of them with a panel of experts, 'it's most definitely time to consider it seriously'. They were bowled away by the quality and price. We agree, having had the most wonderful tasting with winemaker, Christoph Bauer in January, and now, having imported the wines, and having let them rest, we've been drinking them at home, and yes, these are fabulous to drink and excellent all rounders with food.
We brought in two: a Reserve, which is £17.50, introductory price; and the Non-Reserve which is £14.50 introductory price.
